Outdoor booth/under tent at NY Art Show

It was a mildly successful show this past weekend in Long Island, NY at the Nassau County Museum of Art show. My booth was set up as an outdoor booth, but it was under a tent so we had electricity.  I say it was “mildly successful” because the promoter, at the last minute, added another tented area, and directed the flow of people around the tent instead of through the tent.  ALL the vendors inside this 2nd tent were wondering why the crowds were not larger, and then we realized that the flow of people were being directed elsewhere! They corrected the flow of traffic for Sunday but we lost the whole day Saturday, and could not really make up for it.
Don’t get me wrong, I still did well, but could have done a lot better.  Some of my neighbors did not even make their booth fee! No sense crying over what could have been,  so on to the next show in two weeks – and start making some more pens to replace the ones that I sold.

Speaking of strong selling pens, one of my best sellers still remains the Acrywood pen blanks on a Majestic Jr. or Baron Style pen.  Speaking of Acrywoods, we just received six (6) new color combinations of Acrywoods and they are really nice!  I sold all of the Nickel Lever Action pens, and five of the Brass Lever Action Pens.  The laser inlay kits always sell well, and a few of my favorites are still the American Flag and the new American Bald Eagle.

Well that’s it  for now – back into the shop to get ready for Paradise City Arts Festival in Northampton, MA next weekend.
Happy Turning,

Barry-Signature
